Kosmix Posts 419% Growth In March

The folks at comScore contacted us yesterday to inform us that Kosmix.com had experienced a 419% month-over-month traffic growth in March. Before we knew it, the news was on TechCrunch!

The comScore numbers matched what we saw in our logs, so this did not come as a surprise to us.  Since the launch of our “betaish” product in December last year, we have been very busy working on product and user experience improvements to the site.

The NY Times ran a featured story in mid-March titled “Just Don’t Compare Kosmix to Google”.  This article did a great job of explaining how Kosmix, a “multimedia encyclopedia”, differs from a search engine like Google. This drove a lot of awareness for the product and the company–not surprisingly, it opened the floodgates of traffic to our site.

What may have gone unnoticed is that during the same period, our health site, RightHealth, posted a 23% month-over-month growth in unique visitors over the previous month.  RightHealth has been around longer than Kosmix, so growth numbers like the one Kosmix had last month would be very hard to achieve. RightHealth attracted 6.65 million visitors in March, according to comScore.

While these traffic growth numbers are nice to see, what really excites us here at Kosmix is positive feedback from users on the site.  Most of us are glued to Twitter Search! We also routinely monitor feedback sent to us by real users through the feedback form on the site. If you have any feedback on the product, please send it to feedback@kosmix.com. We’d love to hear from you!
